Butyldiglycol

Butyldiglycol is a slow-evaporating glycol ether solvent, chemically the monobutyl ether of diethylene glycol, offering strong solvency for resins, dyes, and organic compounds combined with excellent water miscibility. It is widely used as a coalescing agent in water-based paints and coatings, a coupling solvent in industrial and household cleaners, and a component in printing inks, hydraulic fluids, and textile processing aids. Its high boiling point, low volatility, and balanced hydrophilic–lipophilic character improve film formation, flow, and cleaning performance. Typical downstream users include manufacturers of architectural and industrial coatings, cleaning product formulators, ink producers, and specialty chemical blenders.
