Benzene demand hinges on styrene and phenol chains
Most benzene output feeds styrene, phenol and other aromatics derivatives.
Consumption profile. Benzene is mainly consumed in the production of styrene, phenol, cyclohexane and cumene. Styrene and phenol operating rates are the principal swing factors for benzene demand.
Market sensitivity. Because benzene is a co-product of refining and steam cracking, its supply often follows crude runs and cracking economics rather than aromatics demand alone.
